It seems Sin City was a little less sinful last year (if you consider gambling a sin, that is). According to a new study by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, visitors in 2010 gambled less than visitors in 2009 and spent less money on casino games.

Specifically, the study found that 83% of Vegas visitors in 2009 gambled an average of $466, as compared to an average of $482 in 2009. In 2009, visitors gambled 3.2 hours a day, on average, while 2010 visitors only gambled an average of just under 3 hours.

Don’t feel too sorry for Vegas, however. Visitors spent more on other Sin City staples like hotel rooms, food and drink, transportation, shopping, shows, and sightseeing in 2010 than they did in 2009. The amount of foreign visitors was also up (Vegas likes foreign visitors because they stay longer and spend more).

Here are a few facts about Sin City’s 2010 visitors, as revealed by the recent survey…

•    18% of Vegas visitors in 2010 were from foreign countries.•    Another 18% visitors traveled to Vegas for the first time last year.•    59% of visitors come to Las Vegas by car, while 41% traveled by plane.•    The average age of the Vegas visitor was 49.2.•    79% of travelers were married.•    66% of visitors are employed, with 81% earning $40,000 or more.•    94% of visitors were very satisfied with their stay in Las Vegas
